MATCH RULES
Match Time
All matches are played 2 x 12 min. Central timekeeping is used on all courts. The clock is not stopped for 7 m throws, warnings or suspensions. If the referee stops the clock, the referee is responsible for timekeeping for the rest of the match. Central timekeeping is used in all matches. The time-out rule is not applied.
Number of Players
Normally 6+1, in E-junior matches 5+1 and in F-juniors and mini 4+1.
Playing Rules
Matches follow mainly the rules and interpretations of the Finnish Handball Federation as well as mini handball rules.
Exceptions to the rules: the match start is determined in advance (“home/away team”) time-outs are not used no regular extra time is played in placement matches (see placement rules) Otherwise, IHF rules apply with the Finnish Handball Federation’s comments.
Home Team
The team listed first in the match schedule is the home team. The home team starts the match. The home team provides the match ball and places one spare ball near its own goal. In matches played in Myyrmäki hall, the home team also provides a table official who operates the scoreboard and delivers the result sheet from the referees to the info point immediately after the match. The team listed first starts the match and is responsible for the scoreboard.
Away Team
The team listed second in the match schedule is the away team. The away team starts the second half. The away team places one spare ball near its own goal at the start of the match.
F and Mini Matches
In mini matches, a game leader is used instead of a referee. If this is not possible, the organizing office must be informed well in advance. Goals are not counted in mini matches.
Handball wax
In Myyrmäki-halli handball wax is totally prohibited.
Match Balls
Both teams bring 2 official handballs to the match, from which the referee selects 3 balls for the game. One spare ball is placed next to each goal. Teams are responsible for their own balls.
Equipment
In Myyrmäki hall it is allowed to play with turf/artificial grass shoes. Studded shoes are not allowed.
Draw in Playoffs
Extra time is played until one team scores a goal.
Protest
A protest must be submitted within 10 minutes after the end of the match. The protest fee is 100 euros and will be refunded if the protest is accepted.

In placement matches and semi-finals, the game continues until the first goal is scored if the match is tied at the end of regular time. The referee decides the starting team by draw.
Over-age Players
A team may have four (4) over-age players from one age group above. However, no more than two (2) over-age players may be on the court at the same time. An over-age player may not play in more than one team at the same time. Teams must always apply for permission from the tournament organizer before the tournament to use over-age players.
Over-age players: The team must have permission from the Finnish Handball Federation to use over-age players in the tournament. No more than two over-age players may be on the court at the same time. These players must wear a yellow-green tape around the left sleeve as identification. Tape is available from the competition office.
